Welcome to the Party!

The first lesson with a new class is always difficult to plan for and I like to try new ideas. This time last year I had two new classes both starting on my birthday, so I thought up some activities for a party themed lesson.

I ended up with enough ideas for more than one lesson, so the lesson plan is divided into two parts as it has plenty of activities to choose from for one lesson, or you could use all of them over two or more classes.

As the idea was for an introduction lesson there’s quite a range of language covered, a mix of activities including some optional supplementary listening from the Market Leader course books if you use them and Breaking News English. Otherwise all materials are included in the one download – discussion ideas, role plays, games and vocabulary.

Some activities are suitable for Pre-Intermediate, but overall the activities are more suited to Intermediate level students.
