Exam or Interview Preparation

Support with preparation for exams (e.g. TOEIC, BULATS or IELTS) or job interviews

The content of the course will depend on what the student is preparing for.

In some cases when preparing for exams it will be necessary to acquire the relevant coursebook.  Some exams do not include speaking, in which case the emphasis will be on comprehension, reading and writing tasks. However, as speaking is the fundamental communication form in language all lessons will involve speaking activities together with listening, reading and written activities.

For exams such as TOEIC and BULATS the language requirements are broadly business related therefore a variety of materials may be used with a focus on work related language for example:

  • Meetings
  • Presentations
  • Reports
  • Presentations
  • Visual data such as graphs
  • Emails & Letters

For interviews the focus will be on speaking and oral comprehension, but written tasks are also very helpful in preparing to present ideas on relevant topics.

Each lesson will be followed up with an email containing feedback on the lesson including new vocabulary, grammar and corrections. There will also be some reading, listening or written work in preparation for the following lesson. For maximum progress, students are encouraged to practice English as regularly as possible between lessons. Ideally the lessons will focus on speaking and reading/writing activities will be done outside lesson time.
